This course provides a different skill set on problem-solving exercises and small or large group activities to stimulate children’s interests. The previous modules which focused on the concepts of guiding teachers on the generation of ideas to complement well-designed lessons, now act as a basis to critically reflect on the use of information technology and other resources for Drama in the classroom. It also uses process drama as a tool to understand diverse social contexts and planning for lesson for different specific groups of learners. This third module is the final certificate course to complete the Diploma in Speech and Drama.
Focus is placed on lesson planning skills and effective teaching methodologies pertaining to the ideologies and discipline of Drama in Education.
Participants will:

  • be well versed in the intricacies of Speech and Drama from a teacher’s standpoint
  • be able to appreciate the finer points of drama as a tool for teaching, both for soft skills and for character building
  • focus on the use of drama as a tool for understanding bigger issues concerning society and abstract notions in life, for example, social ills of gambling
  • integrate Drama into other subject like English or Social Studies as an effective toll to enhance their learning and understanding of these subjects
  • know and understand the basic rules and structure of Process Drama and Drama in.
  • achieve proficiency in the use of IT for Drama
  • create lesson plans, some of which includes use and integration of IT with creative approach learners’ interest.

8 weeks on a part-time study for 4 hours per session. Sessions include classroom discussions/participation, hands-on training activities and peer teaching practice.
